Default Lowering an RT81 what shocks and springs?

Hey guys we have my flatmates 1973 RT81 up and running and are now looking to lower it to give it that hubcapped lowered oldskool look

Just want to see if anyone knows some shocks and springs to use as most places are saying custom is the only way to go,we have access to my welder to maybe reweld a new perch to take an alternative spring, has anyone had any luck in this area?

Oh does anyone know of someone who may have these components fs!

    cheers

As it has coil and lower wishbone in front, you can't 'reweld' the perch.
Cheap way would be cut a bit off the spring

As for the rear...lowering blocks...or, you can 'flatten' out the leaves a bit by dismantling the spring and doing each leaf separately.

I have done this often to 'raise' leaf springs, so I can't see why it won't work the other way.
I can explain the method if you are interested.

Mate, it would be a major engineering feat to fit struts to an RT81
Your only option to lower it is a different spring, or get the originals reset....or you could fit a couple of sand bags somewhere under the bonnet

Has it got disc or drum brakes?

Sorry to dig up an old thread, thought this would be useful for others who have an RT40 / RT80.
Look at using stock TX Gemini springs, or later model Gemini low springs.
