X81 Power Mirror Wiring.

Hey Guys,

I got my self a set of JZX81 fold in mirrors for my X83, and have been trying to sort out the wiring for it.

I have found the 2 wires that power the actual motor, but cant find the wires that switch it.

This should be reasonably easy, as there is only 4 wires required, but buggered if I can figure it out.

Looking here shows me a basic diagram of how the wiring is supposed to go to the mirrors, but this diagram isnt for a JZX81, and this means all the wires are different colours.

The colours I have on the actual plug for the passenger side are in the pic below.

I have dismantled my mirror completely, and have found the following.

Red, Brown, and Black, are all for the mirror adjustment, and not required for the fold in/out operation of the mirror.

This leaves Green, Light Green, Blue, Yellow

The colours I have on the mirror control ECU for the passenger side are

Pink/Blue
Pink/Black
Brown
Brown/Yellow

Driver Side are

Pink/Green
Brown/White
Pink
Pink/White

Remainder of the wires on the ECU are

White/Red (I believe this to be Power from IGN)
Blue/Black (I think this is + from the push button switch)
White/Black (I think this is Earth)

Wiring into the motor of the mirror is as follows

Green
Light Green (Attached to Red on the Motor)
Yellow (Attached to White on the Motor)
Blue

Obviously attaching power to light green and yellow makes the motor spin, and attaching it the opposite way makes the motor spin in the opposite direction.

Now, how do I make it switch, so that applying power to the ECU, through the button, makes the mirror fold in and out?!

Im sure a photo, of the wiring behind the JZX81 door skin showing what colours green, blue, light green and yellow change to, would be fine, but I dont have a JZX81 handy.

Further to this....

Drivers Side wiring.

I get continuity from
Pink to Brown/White Always, Adding power makes no difference.

Adding + to White/Red on the Control box and - to White/Black
Still no other difference.

Adding + to Blue/Black on control box gives me the following.

Instant 12V from Pink/Green and Pink/White to Pink. (Pink is - )
Removing the + from blue/black removes all 12V from both instantly.

Adding power to the mirror with Yellow being - makes the mirror fold in, yellow + makes it fold out.

Connecting the mirror as follows

Pink - Yellow
Brown - Light green
Pink/Green - Blue
Pink/White - Green

The mirror folds in when applying + to Blue/Black
Mirror does not fold out again when reapplying + to blue/black.

Next update...

I spoke to Siri, who gave me the following pic for the drivers side.

This gave me all the wiring I needed.. Right?

Well not quite...

The mirror folds out ok, but will not fold back in..

What am I missing here?

So, after talking with wilbo666, once again.. Thanks mate

I made sure all my wiring was correct, which strangly enough it was... and the mirror still didnt work.

Removed the passenger side mirror, and tried again, and that mirror worked fine!
Swapped the wiring, so the drivers side was on the passenger side, and vice versa..
And again the passanger side worked fine! no movement at all from the drivers mirror.

Pulled it apart, and found shorted tracks, as well as the bit that i managed to remove with the screw driver

Problem now found..

How do i fix tracks that need to have contacts slide on them?!

you could try a track repair kit from jaycar or somewhere?

otherwise solder and sandpaper?

got a more detailed thread for this somewhere ? very interesting, i have been looking at these mirrors on yahoo, i assume you have the jzx81 stock switch that is located on the mirror adjustment panel to fold the mirrors?

There is a guy at marion that has a couple of sets of these mirrors.

I paid $70 for mine, and its my fault they are broken, as I couldnt find any info on installing them. This should be helpful for anyone else that gives it a go.
