    Default Help!!...anoying vibration in car.

Hi all, I have a 1991 Celica 2lt manual. It has a annoying vibration while the engine is operating in a stationary position & driven around. It seems to be worse when the engine's started from cold.
This is starting to give me the screaming sh...ts big time!! & I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before?.I was told that it had the clutch done earlier before I bought the car, could there be any misalignment from doing this?.
Any help in sorting this out would be great.
    Cheers

Probably going to be an engine/gearbox mount worn out....

Your car is running ok? it is running on all cylenders? the vibration isnt a miss in the engine?

Hi, Na... it's running good & I've had the engine mounts checked out, all ok...I did look at some of the similar posts on this subject and they tend to lean towards clutch / flywheel misalignment problems?.... so maybe that's the problem?.
I'll take it into the Toyota workshop here in New Plymouth & ask them to look at it.
    Cheers

It could be a clutch / flywheel problem, but it would be a shit load worse at higher RPM if its that bad at idle .. as above i would be looking at engine mounts actually sagged not necessarily broken or exhaust tight on hangers etc ..

Yes... you might be right, When I go over an undulating road the vibration increases then decreases in noise level. I had the exhaust people look at the mounts while I was getting the exhaust repaired & they put the lever bar onto them & wiggled but nothing moved too much.
I'll get them looked at by the professionals I think.

    checked the indicator fluid?

accelerate hard in 1st gear and back of sharply, and accelearate hard again staright after, if you get "CLUNK....CLUNK" then its pretty much gauranteed to me mounts, \ (you will feel the clunk through the whole body of the car.....)

you can also put the car in 1st gear while its staitonary and load the motor up using the clutch and have a mate look in the engine bay to see which mount/s are shagged,

will most likey be the front engine mount (at the bottom of the radiator) and the rear mount that you probably cant see from up top,

This indicator fluid of which you speak..... I am not stupid, and I understand that I need both amber and clear (for amber and white light obviously) but what about late model cars that have clear lights that actually flash amber? do they have fluid that is similar to that clear cola you used to get (clear but tastes like cola)? IE looks clear but flashes orange?

Now that would be some impressive chemistry...

Sorry for hijacking the thread Baz
