i have searched and i cant find any good information on the net
I am planning on replacing the the ct26 turbo on my 7mgte ( its running sweet) im just thinking of getting bigger turbo so would it be wise to go for a garrett gt32.
is the garrett gt32 a good turbo charger?
has anyone on here done this before on a 7mgte or similar engine/or used this turbo charger in general and if they have is it worth doing or is there just too much lag.
is it worth it in the long term performance wise or should i leave it as is
any advice much appreciated

so u reckon a better application for that turbo is something like a 2litre motor
but it will still produce more power right? the motor is stock though

GT32's are journal bearing and the version you buy straight from the catalogue is not generally used in petrol performance applications. The yanks do make hybrids with bits of them though.
They are more a diesel application turbo. The wastegate being mounted on the exhaust housing is a good indicator to this.
.82 GT35 is the best pick for your application. GT35's are dirt cheap for what they are capable of.
Edit - If you already have the turbo and don't wish to spend more money then I would throw it on anyway.
Here's a pic of an adaptor welded to a CT26(3SGTE but you get the idea) manifold to suit a GT32.
I'd be inclined to move the wastegate to the comp housing though.

wat about a ca18det would it work well on an internally stock ca18det wat do u reckon??

It'd be a bit big for a CA. Think of it as the compressor wheel from a 3071 garrett with a bigger turbine. Then take away rolling element, add unmatched turbine A/R's for small engine and you have a pretty bad match for a dirty old CA.
2860RS would be as big as you'd go on a CA.
It'd still be a better turbo than an old CT26.
its just one of my mates friends is selling a brand new one and he wants $600 for it and i was thinking its a good investment and was going to buy it.
the price is good for a brand new one aye?

its a good price but if you can't use it on anything then there is no point buying it, even if it is a bargain.
a 2871 on the CA would be decent and the 7M requires a 3076 or bigger depending on what your trying to achieve.

Garrett only lists one GT32 but if it is from the states it could be a hybrid with a bigger compressor. They fiddle with all sorts of combos over there whereas in Aus they only seem to market the common ball bearing garretts.
Totally agree with RR above, if you don't have a practical use for it then it is not a bargain, Been there, still got the damn thing.![]()
