    Default 7AFE, non-distributor model?

    All the while i thought all 7afe ignition was distributor type however i was being told by a workshop that there is a model not using distirbutor type. I had some debate with him but he seems very sure that there is such model. He even pointed to me 7afe head "with a sample" is like and not GE head that he is talking about.

    Anyone any idea?

    No 7AFE was released in Australia with DLI (distributor-less ignition), however we did miss out on some of the variants, so it's not surprising. Pretty sure the US got the DLI version at one stage, along with the TVIS intake (which we also didn't see in our variants).

    The crank angle part is of most interest, but the teeth on the cambelt are a different shape so it's no good for a G head conversion
    The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new

    now i wonder would the dli or the distributor would be better for turbo application

    Just looking at the pics , IF you were to run the DFI CAS in a 7age set up , Iam guessing you would have to cut/remove the CAS WHEEL from the FE crank cambelt gear and try and refit it to a GE crank cambelt gear and use a the 7a oil pump housing with the CAS sensor ? any thoughts if this would work ?

    mate has had a couple of these at his work and sold them not long before I got interested.

    next one that comes thru is mine.

    the stupid thing is that whoever bought these engines probably pulled the cas/dli stuff off,
    threw it into scrap, and put the aus spec stuff on.
