Default Saber Gauges - Oil pressure stupid reading>?!?

    Hey guys,
just installed a full set of saber gauges..
so ill tell you what iver done,
ive installed water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, boost and air/fuel ratio.
Anyway, after installling all of these
1 gauge appears to be playing up
    its the oil pressure gauge,
now, ive checked the wiring twice now, and made sure i got it right
the sender is bolted into the sandwitch plate beneath the filter,
and the terminals on it are connected correctly.

    Symptoms -
when you start the 1jz cold, it should run around 40psi i belive
    my gauge is reading 90

When it warms up my gauge reads 30psi at idle
but if you rev the motor to 5,000rpm it sees nearly 100psi??? and it will hold this too
ive never had any problems with the motor, so this lets me assume there is something funky with the gauge maybe?
what could cause this high reading?
    Steve

Where does the factory sensor go? different parts of the motor i.e. oil filter to head will have different pressure reedings generally more pressure at the filter and less at the head
I know the stock sensor an a 3sgte is in the head

I have a aftermarket guage with the sensor at the filter in a sandwich plate and i get the same as you. 100 when cold or booting it 30 at warm idle.

put it where the factory sensor goes, and that should fix all your troubles on alot of motors there is a bung beside the factory one, so you can run both gauges and things?

    What problems/symptoms would you expect?
    Played with the relief spring?
I don't see anything wrong with the numbers unless it's reading a bit too high/optimistic, only that the relief isn't opening soon enough IMO.
Placing the sender in a different place, anywhere between the pump and a main or cam bearing, will not make much difference at all unless it is a Great Distance, or there is a restriction thru the filter or has long thin lines to a cooler/heat exchanger/remote whatever.

That 100 is nothing to what it'll get come winter time and I wouldn't want it to test the burst strength of the filter or break the pump.

i have the same gauges (rebadged Toser), have the same readings as well.. however it doesn't stay high for too long when cold because i'm in a tropical country now and it's always 30 degrees out so it doesn't stay cold for long.. was told that oil pressure is higher when cold coz the idle is up, and that is normal.. strangely, when i manually rev the car to 1500 rpm when it's warm, and oil pressure doesn't go up that high??

higher oil pressures when cold have to do with oil viscosity afaik

    ^^

that's what i failed to note

so the higher pressure when cold is perfectly normal then? and .. in theory when using monograde oil the pressure would be consistent when hot or cold?

numbers seem fine to me, the 1g runs similar pressure on my gauge also,

i also use a thick oil 15w-50 so that also effect the pressure reading,

hey aslong as your got oil pressure be happy

sorry to steer the thread away from oil, but i just installed a Saber boost gauge into my mates JZX90, and it basically reads constant -20 and moves to -18 (towards 0) when booting it, full boost.....

Are Saber knowen for shitty manufacturing of gauges ?

Im sorry, but to those that think 100psi is normal oil pressure or even close, its not!

30psi at idle is O.K. tho.

i was looking at buying some, but heard they were quite shitty, so i didnt bother, try using a different boost gauge to see if there is a problem with the gauge or the manifold line....if the other gauge works fine, return the saber gauge and get money back!
