    Default Hilux Center Options

    Hey guys,

    I've just had my diff rebuilt cause i didnt have time to do it myself! It got all new bearings and seals. Unfortunately i couldnt get 4:11 gears new in time for a reasonable price and stuck with some 2nds i had... I'll have to get used to the whine

    However, i asked the guy to shim up the center and replace the springs with stiffer ones to make the LSD work a bit tougher... He gave it back without doing it and said they ahve steel plates and simply dont wear. He also said that putting stiffer springs into it will make a bees dick of difference and if there is a difference it will quickly end up average as the springs will wear rapidly...

    So i said whats my options and this is what i heard back;

    Different compound disks, will cost a couple hundred bucks fitted and should work a bit better, although they'll wear and need replacing pretty often... Specialy at first until we get the right compound!

    2nd option was to go a detroit. Though i dont like the idea of the noise or the fact its a daily and i dont want a locker again!

    3rd was to go a trutrac, i have heard lots of good things, but at 1k installed, i want to know how good they really are and if they are worth the money??

    Who here runs or knows stuff about the trutrac and is it worth the 1k??? How long can i expect it to last before it starts to single leg? Keeping in mind my habbit to leave the clutch while at exceptional RPM? And drag race / track work it (i know, but i'll do it soon... promise, and you know who you are! )

    Cheers,
    Jase
