Its a flying set of wires that come from the switch nn the side of the manual gearbox

If it is auto then the reverse light switch isn't 2 pin, its part of the auto position plug...

Hermaphrodite plug then? It looks as though it clips "inside" its counterpart, yet it has female connections.

I'm going up to my parents to work on the car today. If i find the thing i'm taking photos!

I already have one plug from the gearbox but i think that was the speedo cable... it is a funny looking triangular plug.

The one on my R154 was pretty short, and only made it to the top of the gbox (pretty sure the sensor is on the drivers side).
So you'll have to get under the car and feel around for it.

Plug sex referrers to the sex of the pins, not the actual plug!

Plug you posted pic of has female pins!

I can see what you mean tho...

Transvestite plug! OR Tranny plug (how coincidental if it is indeed for the gearbox...)

Tranny plug! Spent a few hours on the car today. I ended up finding the plug hiding on top of the gearbox which was unfortunately out of my reach. Ended up cutting the plug and extending it with some ghetto mod speaker wire.

    She works

Thanks for all your help guys!

P.S Hammy, the connection is on the drivers side of the gearbox just back from the speedo sender. I'll try and take a photo next time i'm up to work on it.

    Stop the press!

I found another one and can't find a mate for it.

This one sits on the exhaust side of the engine and hangs somewhere down near the water thermostat. Its joined together with another plug so it hasn't got much room to move as you can see in the photo.

Any help would be great! Started the car on the weekend and its not running very well... trying to pinpoint the problem, and i hope that this is it!
