    Default RA60 swaybar sizes?

    Hi all,
Anyone know what size the standard swaybars on the RA60 are? Trying to figure out how much bigger I went (did it so long ago that I've forgotten it all)!

I'd go outside and measure for you...except that I kinda blew the motor up today. So it's stuck in town. From memory the front one looked like about 27mm and the rear about 20mm. Could be WAY off tho, that's just what I see them as in minds eye.

Edit: It's also the material that it's made from, not just the diam...

True. Forgot to ask if they're hollow or solid as well.

BTW, 27mm and 20mm seem oddly large for OEM swaybars...

Yeah, like I said, that could be WAY off. They did look pretty big tho, and are ususally made of hi-carbon solid steel bar, where an aftermarket one will be proper spring steel.

nark go for a 27mm adjustable bar that will give you 27mm min up to 31 max
for the rear look for a ae71 rear 1 as that is big enough for what you would wont for the track and so forth

i just measured a few things for ya - in the dark - so you owe me now

    RA60/RT142/MX62 front swaybar = 24mm
    RA40/23 front swaybar = 19mm
    RA60 rear swaybar = 15mm
MS112 rear swaybar (not sure if it will fit) = 18mm
    AE71 rear sway bar = 13mm

no idea if they are hollow or solid though.

i wouldnt be using a AE71 swaybar as it would be a downgrade from your exisiting one. unless one is hollow and the other is solid - then they'd prob be the same.

note to RA40 owners: MX62/RA60/RT142 fr. swaybars fit RA40's. RA60 rear swaybar will also fit if you fab some mounts onto the diff

thats all and good but as you lower the rear of the car the bar increases .so if you have a 15mmbar and lower car the bar exactly goes up and you will end up picking up the inside of a wheel .to give you an idea from the inside of the guard middle arch to the ground .my front of car is exactly 600 mm center line of stub axle to middle point if that helps also the back is 610 on drivers side and 605 on the passenger side to allow for me in it
on fast race tracks i leave bar alone on tracks like winton i disconnect the rear and my bars are 27mm fulladjustable front and is up to the max and std ae71 rear smaller than the std ra40 series 1 and i have played around with rears to get the right 1 celica supra is 16mm ra40 is 14 and im using 12mm im sure

Awesome info brett_celicacoupe! 24 front and 15 rear! No wonder they were so understeery from the factory!

Glenn, doesn't running with no RSB make the car understeery?

because winton is similar to wakefield park with all the tight corners it helps the car by not having it on but i use it for the island and sandown as it is fine for those tracks also it all depends on track conditions and with a factory bar i only take out 1 bolt on 1 side of the car
and it also depends on spring rates and shocker rates as well i run the biggest bilsteins that will fit the ra series struts they are just a tad smaller than the strut itself ,so the strut is the distance tube .front springs can be 245 ,275 and also 300lbs on the front
rears can be 165 ,200 and also 230 lbs depends on which track im on same with neg camber etc
