There is another Corona Avante at Pickies NSW. I saw it with my OWN EYES!! It is a complete setup disc, calipers, diff handbrake cables. Everything. Someone snap it up before its gone!

Hey all, slightly off topic but still close in regards to the avante discs on a F series live axle (MX23) rear end..

I understand the bearing side of things is fine.. But you still need to use the avante bearing retainer plate? Not the original MX23 one? Just want to confirm this as I may just order them from toyota if I can instead of taking whole axles from the wreckers.

Josh, yea u do, the bearing retainer plate for the discs have a ring on them which slots inside the calliper bracket so that the bearing wont slide in and out. You will need this plate for any drum->avante disc conversion.

Ahh ok that makes sense.. I was struggling to picture what it was and was lead to believe the avante retaining plate was just 'thicker'. But something actually protrudes from it hey to hold the bearing in place.

Also i've heard people saying putting the avante discs on RA celica's they can run into clearance problems with shock mounts, training arms, etc .. Anyone confirm that?

Cant see why, all of it fits under the rim.

    Josh

I have put the RT141 brakes on both a ra23 T series and and Mx23 rear (in my ta23). Being disk brake the design of the backing plate is very different and you must put a ring spacer from the RT142 between the axle flange and the wheel bearing. This does require the removal and replacement of the bearings (and seals). I had a tech article on the old forum that explained the conversion in some detail. I can't seem to get to the Tech. Articles to copy it in here. When to see the two assemblies along side each other what I am talking about is obvious.

Joel, yes man the RA23 shock mounts on the axle tube, have to be moved inward by about 20mm from memory, otherwise the shock will bind on the caliper.

    cheers Chuck
