Thanks for the help guys, I'll definitely go for a quality bearing. Has anyone else got the exact part number though just to be sure I don't get/order the wrong one? No one down here ever has anything in stock so I'll have to order it but I don't want to pull it apart until I have the new one ready to go.

You have a bearing supply shop?
If u ask for a 6203 bearing in NSK, koyo or timken they will know exactly what you are talking about. If you take the pulley and look at the bearing in the centre it will have 6203 written on it. It's a standard bearing number.

I can't work this out! I got the wheel off without moving the tensioner because I can't move it, I put a breaker bar on it and couldn't get it to budge, but I only have limited room. Does this keyway at the top have anything to do with it?

I'm going to have to drain the radiator and pull the hydro fan off because I can't get the bolt back into the hole, my hand won't fit down there and even if it did I won't get the belt on. This is really fucking me off. I'm wondering if my tensioner is seized because it didn't even move when I pried the wheel off and it had nothing to tension.

I'm happy to keep the hydro fan its working just fine and it costs me nothing to keep it. The noise was definitely the bearing in the tensioner wheel, I could hear and feel it when I turned it in my hand.

A mate showed me how to move the tensioner. Get a long breaker bar with a 14mm socket and whack it on the tensioner pulley bolt. I think, if my memory serves me correctly, when you are tightening the pulley bolt the tensioner will be being compressed and thus releasing tension on the belt.

There's a LOT of spring in that tensioner arm. You wouldn't be able to move it by hand. Put the pulley and the bolt back on and see if you can move it with the method i suggested.

Thanks Simon I will give it a go. I got the bolt undone and off with no room and then couldn't get it back on so I levered the wheel off. To get the bolt backj in I'm going to have to remove the hydro fan and a heap of other shit because I can't get my hand in there, so I'll try that after work tonight.

Keep yr hydro fan, even tho in tassie you prob dont need as much cooling they work 100% .
It was 43 deg in melb today and my 2J mx83 with the A/C running flat out never went over half on the guage.
I,ll say it again a stock clutch or hydro fan pulls 10 times the air of a electric fan .
