Hey guys, i am getting a sway bar made up, and the guy wants me to weld a plate to the base of the diff. But im keen to use a U Bolt cause its easier and cheaper for me!
My diff has the re-inforcement welded to the rear of it, and the wants me to weld the plate to the flat section. What i want to do, it cut away a section from the axle tube, into the reo just large enough to pass a ubolt through. This way, i figure the reo will still have plenty of strength and the U bolt has room to pass through and sit until its flat...
Can anyone see a downside to this and why the swaybar dude was so against it? Or is it possible he just misunderstood me???
Here are some pics to help!
Thats my diff, My photo shop skills arent that leet!
Thats the rear view, of the bolt coming down through the reo...
Thats the top view, where i want to cut away some steel and drop the bolt down through...
Any info is good info thanks guys!
Cheers,
Jase
why dont you try to fit an AE86 swaybar to the back of it?
2 plates welded to the diff and 2 mounts off the factory chassis rails. should be simple as shit to fit up. about an hour or 2 worth of work at the most.
use a stocker to start with and you can upgrade to a whiteline or similar when $$$ permit.
