1st experience was in a JDM 1978 fairlady so those japs have been putting the useless pieces of crap into rice crispies since then.
Corona GT had one and someone disconnected it in 1976 and I never knew it was there.
Left it off.
In USA cars chime when you leave the lights on, when you leave the friggin keys in the ignition and when you open the flamin door mate so be thankful.
They dont go off when you go over 85 mph however..

Hi,
The 1973 RA25GT has one. Goes off once you go over 110kph.
I don't know if the pre-73 Celicas did it, or if it's a GT thing, or generic across all the models.

Its on all high performace JAP stuff since the 1970's. I have three or four of those chime things.
Later on they put in automatic speed cuts from the speedo nacelle.
My 1981 Fairlady and my 1978 Fairlady Zed had them and I pulled them off.
Nacelle from my 1978 Nissan Fairlady 280Z-Ti 180 KPH speedo 240 kph capable the chimer is just to the left of the hump and LOUD. Drove you crazy.
The red line is 100 km/h. Cut out at 180 kph, and total engine fuel pressure loss, engine would not resttart fuel pump until coasting back below 100 kph.
Ditto the Corona GT 100 KPH chime 150 KPH double chime 180 kph ignition cut out (The air solenoid blead valve opens up).
NOT ANY MORE IT AINT![]()

I've been trying to get to this box in my GX81, and it has a digidash. I can get every bit of the dash off/out, 'cept I can't seem to manage to get the digidash and surround out at allIs someone (preferably with a digidash, but even without would possibly still be good) able to give a walkthrough, pref. with pics, of how to get that dash bit out. I'm gonna have another try tomorrow though, had to pack up hurriedly to get to work in time, and so I'll update if I manage it.
