speak to 6boost about his stroker kit, for 3500 u could have a 1g 2.2ltr capable of 10,000 rpm![]()
hi guys,
yea i know this has been done to death but its slightly different so i thought i would put a post up anyway.
I am Wanting to rebuild the 1ggte in my 85 hilux 4WD!!!! I want it basically as strong as possible but with a 3 to 4g max spending money.
so the question i put to everyone is what would u do?
I need boost as early as possible really. im running a single kkr330 turbo atm which seems to do alright.
and before anyone asks. no im not putting in a 2jz or a 1jz or anything else. this is the motor i put in so im sticking with it, even if it does cost me more to get where i could have been starting with the 2jz.![]()
thanks for any replies.
cheers

just came across that thread half way through it and im thinking its the goods!!!Originally Posted by VasH

My understanding was that with a 6 of the same size the greater number of exhaust pulses would allow you to run a bigger turbine housing. This is info provided by my Turbo supplier during diiscussion regarding me increasing the size of the housing on my GT (.64 to .82).
My knowledge is somewhat limited in this regard and I would appreciate the basis for your reasoning, 'cos I would hate to be going in the wrong direction.
Thanks Craig
I used to think like this, but it's apparently more to do with individual cylinder size.
Apprently with the disco potato, .82 is supposed to be more suited to an SR20, and a smaller (.64?) housing with the T3 flange for an RB20. There was a detailed thread on nissansilvia I think it was. I'll try and find it.

I'm no turbo expert at all, and the quote above is specifically regarding disco potatoes, so your application may well be different.

From what I could read it is not so much about right and wrong but rather the pros and cons of turbine A/R on small frame GT type turbos. Which ever way you go there are some compromises that you face.
The issue about turbine A/R and 4s and 6s and the size of the pulse I will have to investigate further. It did not get any debate, but no one contested the statement. Bit of research and back to Queanbeyan Diesel for further discussion. Will ley you know what I find out.
Cheers Craig
i have a gt28rs and hopefully will have a 6boost manifold soon, the disco potato has a .82 rear so wonder when it will spool on my 1ggte....

The .64 on my car comes in real low - full boost not much after 3,000. I have not had any experience but would believe that the .82 would be about 1,000 rpm later. My reason for moving away from the .64 is that I believe that its peak is 240-250rwkw in my current configuration.
I am moving to a stroker kit from 6Boost, which includes a HKS head. I would like to be looking at 300 rwkw from the .82 turbo.
If you would like to get an idea of how the .64 performs we can make arrangement for you take a drive in the car as is. Mobile is 0413190752.

Id be after more lower down boost response and about 250rwkw.
where abouts are you, not PNG still i hope?

Nah! I live out of town in Wamboin. Asked for change to location but has not happened yet. craig
More displacement should mean earlier spool. And it depends what you want - I'm all about streetability and response rather than big numbers.
ddean, what exact turbo are you using? GT isn't very specific
I'll let you know how my HKS GT2530 performs (T3 flange).
