Default removing steel pipe from cast alloy waterpump housing

    Hi all

I am converting a 20v to rwd in my ke70. I need to modify the water bypass pipe. I.e. take the interference straight steel pipe out and put a bent one in.

whats the best way to do this? break out the oxy? or chuck it in boiling water?

    cheers

Be very careful if you use the oxy as I did this on a different water housing and while it worked for 3 of the pipes it is very easy to melt the alloy as it doesn't get red and give you warning. I melted it on the 4th pipe I was getting out.

Still worth giving it a try

Or if you dont need the pipe then hacksaw or die grind it from the inside then fold it in on itself and out it will come.

Why not just leave the straight piece in place, and add the bend to it using a short piece of radiator hose - that's how I did mine - though it won't work if you're leaving the standard curved cast pipe from the cylinder head in place
