    Default 1jzgte vvti/motec m48 problems

i have my car at the shop and the guys are unable to get a correct reading from the vvti because it has too many triggers (3 on the cam where as the motec has a setup to only read 1 trigger per revolution) if that makes any sense? they have suggested far too expensive options to get the 2 to work together, such as getting a gear made up for the inlet cam, or getting a hks mechanical vvt setup or just ditching either the motec and replacing it or ditch the vvt head for a non vvt head! The motec can run vvt just not this kind of vvt apparently. Are these guys just taking me for a ride or they dont know what they are talking about?, has anyone out there succesfully got a m48 running a vvt 1j? anyone experienced this sort of problem? any other cheaper alternatives as ive gotten this far into a 1j vvt setup and dont want to have to change to non vvt. HELP!!!!!!

Go read Dravens and Ed's threads. I believe Ed also did a thread on the different VVTi's and their aftermarket ecu compatability.

IIRC your only option is to cut 2 lobes off.

Does the Motec you have do only VVT as you've written or also VVTi which is what your engine has?

Didn't think M48 could do VVTi.

What's the retail on an M400/600 with loom and VCT enabled nowadays?

another option if you want an ECU that doesn't require mods to the triggers etc is the new Vipec's or Link G4's... They have great toyota trigger support, including full closed loop vvt control for the 1JZ, vvti 1uz etc etc.

I've got a Vipec V88 which I'll be using to control a subaru EZ30R H6 with quad AVCS etc.
