plenty of turbo 22R's in US.

Gentlemen.
I am stuck in a bit of a predicament. I'm an indecisive motherfucker, this i can admit. So i'm asking - what would you do? I'm an educated gent when it comes to most things toyota (and unfortunately, holden) but i'd like you to post things or reasons i might not have thought of.
The sitch -
I am currently the owner of toyotas most epic fail - an XT130 Corona, complete with a Starfire powerhouse. And as such, the vehicle needs to be purged of said impurity.
So the options, for now stand at -
Purchasing an RT142 as a donor car, and completing the conversion with a combination of RT142 powertain and fueling system along with RT132 crossmembers, tailshaft and diff.
Or
Purchasing an 18RG (either carb of EFI) and once again using RT132 bits to complete the package.
I'm very knowledgable as far as transplanting parts from one kind of toyota to another without modifying them in any way, so none of this is an issue.
Basically i'm asking - which would you choose?
Thanks in advance,
Javal.
EDIT - I don't want to be hearing 'Sell and just buy xxxxxx'. We all know that most toymodders, myself included, are far too stubborn or attached to do such a thing.

How about a 3.8 VP engine and auto... it has been done before. and if you buy a wrecked Lexcen, you are keeping it in the family.... (well its already got a Holden motor in it, so no one can be too upset by putting in another one.)
Hi,
Go the 22R. The 18R-G is too good an engine, and getting rare, to be wasted in a Corona XT130.![]()
Can you just bolt in a 22R? Going from the Shitfire engine to the Toyota engine, will you need an adaptor plate to mate with the gearbox?

why not just purchase a good rt142
weld diff and win
I vote 3RZ
Failing that, the extra capacity of the 22R would be a good thing.

seeing its 3/4 of the holden six , just stick in a hot 186
cheap /quick and if you paint it the shitfire blue , hardly anyone would notice
also keep the rods from the starfire they are as good as corrilos and sought after by holden freaks

Depends what it's for... if it's for a daily then the extra capacity of the 22R will make it more driveable. You could also try to get a newer version as the 22RE was fitted to Hiluxes as late as.. whenever.. later than coronas anyway
If you want to play you could put the 22R crank in the 18RG.....
But... unless there's something super special about your XT130, I'd just buy an RT142...

Bolt in and win!
Mos - Yeah there's no way i'm getting rid of this car soon, it's got huge sentimental value for me.
SillyCarS - 1UZ is on the cards for a 'down the track' thing. I just need to dump the failfire asap. She runs well, but fuck i hate it.
It'll be for daily purposes. Leaning toward 22R.
Anyone else?

22RE....
Like you said, RT142 donor. You’ll get the engine, fuel system, computer and all the efi gear.... you might even be lucky enough to jag a CSi or Avanti model and get the A/C gear that was optioned.![]()

Go the 22RE. Maybe you can buy Bello's, considering he is doing nothing with it.

We've got a 22R laying around in the shed from a 90-something hilux, has had alot of head work, got a good cam with it, i believe it was modified to run LPG for our old Hiace, but the Hiace has long since been made into SPAM Cans...
I'd do the 18RG myself, 'cause i love it... but a tough 22R would be something else in australia...
