Yeah that's the plan man, but there's a few tasty 18R packages popping up that are grabbing my attention.

So that's settled gentlemen, 22R unless an 18RG package comes along at the right price.

    Thanks for your input.

Glenno52 - a 1G would be nice, but it's too hard to get it in and reg'd in SA without engineering. 4cyl to 4cyl swaps are alot easier, however still difficult.

Phobia, what rear wheel power do you get, and most importantly for me, what are the torque numbers like, for your 22R.

    cheers Chuck.

You might have the only one in existance. You would be better to fix it up to concours condition or sell it to someone who might want to do the same. Car with mistakes in them eventually become more sought after and expensive as time goes by as there is something special about them.

I can see your reasoning peter, and in most cases, that'd be true.

But there is no reason, for anyone, ever, ever, ever to want a bog stock XT130. EVER.

Unless you're me or chris davey.

His is fast. Mine holds sentimental value.

That's about the long and short of it.

Without Hijacking any more of this thread Chuck, I’ll direct you over to my build up page which has most of the information.

I can tell you though, PHOBIA will be back on the rollers at SAS in a month or so. I've just organized a smaller rear housing for the GT35. Much smaller actually, going from a 1.06 to .63, so im expecting big changes in torque and power delivery.

22R-E would be my pic. I think 95 was when the Hiluxes finished putting them in.

Last time I bought an RT142 Avante it was $500 and had just a failed wiper motor. This will give you most of what you need, including rear disk brakes. Front brakes, have a search for $250 brake upgrade which puts RA60 disks and MX62 callipers onto XT130 struts/hubs. This will keep the car stopping nicely and will be quite cheap.

I personally love the 18R-G, but the 22R-E is a far more practical donk.

I would try to jag one of the newer 22R-E engines for daily use. These will be quite economical and have heaps of torque. The later versions are much much better than the original RT142 version, with more advanced fuel and ignition control, and obviously will be lower kays.

Then get all the other RT142 bits mentioned above from your local wreckers. Will cost maybe $200 in total for the parts, cos its a turd corona.

Install, and enjoy an XT130 turdrona with non-shitfire engine.
