    Default 2JZGTE + Microtech + Stock turbos

    Howdy,

Im hoping to get the 2JZ for my soarer in next weekend or this week sometime and I have noticed there are a lot of sensors and what not that dont really appear to be doing much...the microleb isnt the most advanced computer on the planet but it will do the job I need it to do so im not really fussed about that. Im keeping the stock turbos for a little while to get the car running and most "conversion" issues sorted.

Ive basically given up on wanting to run the turbos in sequential mode as I never really liked it anyway.

My question is...what can I pull off the 2J and throw in the bin...

So far ive found a thing that looks like a carbon cannister under the plenum with a sensor on it, no idea what it is but im thinking I can throw it?

There are two sensors with a whole bunch of pipes on them on the turbo side of the motor...they are for sequential gheyness?

ISCV...the leb wont control it? bin it?

And all thats left to do is wire that big thing that looks like a waste gate actuator in the dump pipes open?

    Please advise...

    thanks
    Matt

The cannister thing is the pressure chamber used to throw the valve open in sequential mode. If youre ditching seq you wont need it.

The things on the turbos, arent really sensors.....cant remember exactly what they are but they are to do with the seq system so you can ditch those too, as well as most of the hoses/etc. That rack of black metal pipes can go too.

ISCV might be able to go but youll need some way to control idle. From memory you cant just screw the throttle open cos it caused some issue, cant remember what though.

sweet thats what I wanted to hear...

I thought the microtech had its own form of idleup?

or you did it like a carby and just wound the idle screw in haha

its been over 2 years since I did my last one on my old 1J and I cant remember...

You can ditch all the VSVs and hoses for the turbo system.

You can ditch the IACV (Intake Air Control Valve), and its reed valve etc; the valve that comes off the rear turbo compressor outlet.

Ditch the EGBV (Exhaust Gas Bypass Valve); the big ceramic flap valve before the cat.

I'd look at doing what Brett did and adding a wastegate to the rear turbo (I'm doing this for my JZZ12 as we speak).

    See this thread
    http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=37963

    Synopsis:
    >Remove rear turbo
    >Insert sleeve into rear turbo turbine outlet to block rear turbo prespool bypass
    >Drill hole where the 'prespool' flap is, through to the pre turbine inlet area
    >Profit

As said the pressure canister under then intake manifold is part of the seq turbo system and can be given the flick in your instance

    cheers wilbo..very definitive answer!

im not going to bother modding the stock turbos in any way...as they are only very very temporary and I give no fark for their longevity...sooner they go boom...the better

right so if I ditch all that stuff...where do the turbos get a vaccum/boost line going to them so the wastegate actually opens?

You don't need to hook them up, then it will go boom faster... that's what you want, right?
Seriously though, the way you['re likely to] drive it won't matter if you hook it up or not, coz the single wastegate is too small and I doubt you'd set the microleb to boost cut much

As Mos says, you'll run a massife amount of boost when you put a decent exhaust on... anyway you sound like you're good with that (For reference I get 17psi+ with a 1.7" restrictor in my 3" exhaust)

To hook up the wastegate (which is the actuator on the front turbo ), simply leave the hose that runs directly from the front compressor outlet to the actuator, and plug the spare nipple on the actuator (The spare nipple used to go to the VSV for boost control in the stock 2JZ seq system, you won't be using this)

I do realise they are going to overboost like crazy...not really something that concerns me heaps...but I do want that one wastegate to actually open...playing with fire otherwhise...

thanks guys...i cant wait to get this badboy running and update my youtube library

no doubt...but not having any kind of boost control would just be flat out reckless

so you honestly think I should just let the thing freeboost its head off?

its going to have a computer and there will be enough fuel for it...so I suppose it cant be all bad

Nah, I'm just stirring, def hook up the wastegate

But an indication for you, I took my 2jzgte for a drive with a 2.5" restrictor once, and the wastegate flap fully open...

And while it was a lag monster it still went well off my 20psi gauge at higher revs

why not just wire the wastegate permanently open?
