    Default Any potential problems?

Hi there. I'm trying to suss out a front suspension/brake upgrade for my ke35, so I've been having a pretty thorough browse of related threads on the topic. So far I've come up with a bit of a plan, brake-wise, using:

    - xt130 strut
    - ms65 hub (or custom made equivalent - should be able to get this done cheap)
    - Nissan R32 GTR calipers (w/ custom brackets)
    - Nissan R33 GTR 330mm disks (will have to use a different brake pad because of larger disk- suggestions?)

I'm wanting to go 5 stud so wheels fouling on calipers shouldn't be an issue- I'll just buy wheels that fit. Can anyone see any potential problems/compatibility issues here? I'd kinda like to get you guyseses opinion before I buy anything.

    Cheers
    Ian

In NZ it would be a waste of money to get hubs made, MS65 are not that hard to find with the top price I've paid $100 a set.

wdebdy - Where'd you get yours from? I've rang around wreckers but no luck.

oldcorollas- NZ$1149 is a tad more than I'm willing to spend on calipers alone, especially as r32 calipers on the larger disks should yield results similar to an all R33 setup. Greater mechanical advantage and all that.

There are clearance issues using an R32 caliper on that large a disc.

Have a look here even though the thread didnt start off looking at that - http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?p=822016

Better off starting with something bigger. Brembos would be nice but not as cheap as you would like. R33 Turbo (non-GTR) are the next best.

Also, have you considered Supra 4 Piston claipers - there have been threads on aussie supra forums that have them around to 500-600 dollar mark and they come from NZ too. If i find the link ill put it up.

I thought the R32 GTR and R33GTST calipers were essentially the same?

Oh, missed that. Thought you said GTS calipers.

Yeah, they are similar. Few exterior differrences and difference in the standard disc width (whether that makes a difference or not i dont know).

And here is the thread i was talking about - http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/...ight=big+brake
I think prices already include shipping to AUS sotalk to the NZ contact (which may have changed too), so read the thread first.

Thanks for that, hadn't thought of those but I think ill aim for the Nissan setup for now.

So noone can see anything obviously wrong with the above setup?

What did you ahve planned for the rear and master cylinder as that is something that needs to be considered, along with front to rear balance. Not sure how to go about it though but would also be keen to hear how.

Also, is your car going to be registered - if so, then check out the rules regarding this as they would be quite different to what we have here.

Most wreckes won't have them but if you keep an eye out its not too hard to find people parting cars out. Even try Deaf Rattle on here, he hasn't decided if he is going 4 or 5 stud yet so may sell the hubs I got for him. Will have a look around here for you if you like, there were two in a paddock I know of, already got the hubs off the third one there. Can use MS63, 65 or 75 hubs.

Will (hopefully) have a hilux diff to play with soon so probably R32 GTR brakes on the back as well, should get fair balance there. As for MC, probably the Pajero option, hopefully thats enough.

Our rules are a bit more lax here I think, so hopefully it will be fine for street use, with a cert.
