Looks like I'm also out of the cruise sorry guys... I was driving along king street last night, just about to go out, when the celica just died. It didn't cut out instantly but within 10 seconds it lost all power (drained over the 10 secs) and i pulled over just in time for it to cut all power completely... The dash lights etc started dimming at first... So we push started it and just made it home in time, but the whole way there i had to keep my revs up, the lights were dim the whole time.... I'm guessing alternator? I couldn't start it once it was home. Then woke up this morning and she started first go...... weird!

The only thing I can think of that's been changed were the head light bulbs with some high wattage bulbs... it was the first time I'd used the lights for that long...

Could the bulbs be too much for my battery? Or is my alternator toast... I just don't get why it worked intermittently, so I'm guessing the variable is the headlights...

Sorry to spam this thread.... Is it still on anyway if its raining??

same thing happened to me in my last celica, the alternator n battery were old, n only of a night id have probs, day time was fine, headlights were draining battery before alternator could charge it. put proper watts back in no probs. i replaced bat, n alt, n put globes back in. was ok but of a nite when blinkers were on lights would dim with each flash.
its through day you think youd be fine?

its only meant to rain in late arvo, iv bn watchn weather, n it probably wont be raining up at cessnock anyway. so yeah we will still go, it will be a fine day, not to hot or cold or wet. think positive, it wont rain, the car will be fine

Ok, I think I'm in if my car breaks down though can someone give em a lift back into newy? haha

It seems fine when the headlights aren't on... I'll just have to source a secondhand, rebuilt or new alternator i guess and prob a new battery by the sounds of things!

    Thanks for your help mate!

    Hopefully see you all tomorrow!

I'll be bringing all my gear with me, so if anyone breaks down we should be able to do some kind of running repairs at least.

Top day Craig, thanks for organising it, can't wait for the next one. Great to meet the other Newcastle Celicas, I think we had 7 or 8 old school Celicas.

HUGE thanks to Craig & Kylie for organising this cruise , great job on the bbq too guys. And big thanks to your dad for securing a spot too.

This was a special one for us simply because its the first time we've actually gone in the celica as a family (I just refused to put in a baby bolt, my car, my rules!!!) Our little boy was just in awe, and kept saying "wow mum the celica is soooo cool". Future celica nut in the making I think!!!

Great to see you all again and meet some new faces too. Looking forward to the next one.
Don't all forget about Toyotas in The Vines in March next year. More details to follow as they become available.

    Cheers Danae
