    Default x8 coilies yahoo.jp

I'm looking at getting some coilies to replace my completely shagged suspension on my cresta, and I've just noticed that everyone seems to pick up JIC Golds even though the front shocks seem to blow semi regularly? The Tein HA's are available on yahoo.jp for a similar price, looking similar condition, and with the swaybar links already attached, is there any reason for people going the JIC's over the Tein's?

I would say that its proabably that their are more JIC coilovers available for the cresta, cressidas etc then teins, I would be getting teins if you can get a set as at least you can get tehm rebuilt ,im fairly sure that they JIC can not be rebuilt

JIC is cheaper, and there are billions of them on yahoo.. not so many teins tho.. but teins can be had cheaply enough through drop-shippers, or even from stores like auto-bacs or yellow hat when they have 20-30% off sales

its not that hard, its a standard toyota style insert.

    kyb agx in st205/185/mr2

    trd short strokes (ae86)

    tokico hts ect.

probably all workable. shorter ones most probably need spacers.

the tokico is probably the go, the rest might be a little bit borderline on the dampening.

So if I can get a set of Tein HA's, are they the better coilovers, and will I be able to get them rebuilt in Australia easily enough? Or should I go the Jic's for their ability to be rebuilt using say, the tokico inserts?

JIC's cannot be rebuild in australia 110% sure
you can try to backyard them yourself as Dimitri is saying. and you eventually will.

Most JIC that arrive here have been used in track work in japan on the x81's and are clapped out to fuck. they will not last you more than a year (why do you think they are sold so commonly as "junk items" on yahoo japan ?)

Get TEIN, even if they are worn , they dont "blow" like JIC's do, they just get soft and sloppyer.

Actually ring suspension places and see where you can get them rebuilt and for what cost. No point in it being in QLD and you have to pay a ton in postage, or you cant actually find anywhere because people remember some time ago in another thread that they heard from their cousins friends brother that they got rebuilt somewhere in Whoop Whoop.

And while shocks that suit other models are ok, it would be better to find someone who has actually made them fit or done the measurements and can guarantee they will fit. Given all that, it might handle like rubbish because the shocks suit a different model, and bar the 205, the others dont have the weight of the cressida or the same balance (MR2 especially).

As for what is better, what do you want them for or what do you want to do with your car, not to mention if you want to be able to drive this on the street? You need to be able to answer those before getting any quality feedback. Although, coFF33 has had expeience with the JIC coil overs and i also know that there are two types, one with and one without adjustable damping.

    Aite, bidding on some Tein's!

*edit* I think 10月 22日 22時 57分 means 22/10 at 22:57 in Japan, which would make it 12:57am on the 23/10 here, no?

I've been looking at the prices of HA's for a little while, and usually they say the junk goods bit if they're anywhere near that price, or go up near $200+. So I think that if this price stays under 10000y I'll still come out ahead. It'll still be cheaper than getting lowered struts + springs New, from my pricechecks.
Just gotta hope none of you bastards take a fancy to 'em now =p
