The higher the number the colder the plug.
I had some bkr7e's myself in my 1j and ended up having to switch them back to bkr6e as i don't drive the car too much.
The number is for the temp the plug can handle isn't it? Is a higher number for more temp or less?
Sorry for the noob question.

If money is the root of all evil.... then why do they pass the collection plate around in church
I'm running the bkr7e's with pretty low boost, will keep this in mind if i see any problems.
Glad she's fixed![]()

the higher the NGK number, the faster it can conduct heat to the head.
that means if engine is running cold (offboost etc), then a higher number will loose too much heat from plug tip to the cooling system.
if engine is running hot (ie, high boost), then a low number will not be able to conduct heat away from the tip fast enough, and could lead to electrode damage.
although nerdy.. think of it as a "heat conduction number".. or as a very rough guide.. th emore aggressive the engine, the higher the number... but stock is usually 5 or 6, and modified is usually 6 or 7... an 8 plug is pretty "cold", and is prolly terrible for day to day duties (but maybe ok in drag/race/WOT all the time motor)

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to oldcorollas again.
Thanks Endless and oldcorollas. That's given me something to think about when I service the Lux after getting it back on the road.
