Hoy Hoy.
I decided today that i want to take on the impossible task of changing the dash to smoething a little less painful on the eye.
I was able to remove almost the whole front of the dash with the exception of the metal plate thingy that goes right up agains the windscreen.
I saw 2 bolts on each side next to the A pillars but that was it.
I can get a screwdriver under the plate and it feels as though it has been stuck down but i still can't get it to pull up, even from a corner.
Has anyone managed to change the cover plate on their cars, how did the get theirs off? Is it my windscreen that is my issue stopping me from getting it to come off.

hmmm that's kinda blowy.
Now i need to work out how to remove the windscreen. (although on the bright side it would allow me to fix the leak at the top of the windscreen and the rust at the bottom i guess).
Wow that sucks, that means in order to experiment with changing the dash i have to have the car off the road for an extended period of time due to not having a windscreen.
I could do a half dash like the ra40 setup (ie the crash pad part unbolts from a half way pooint) but then the top dash doesn't flow through.
is there any point starting another thread for removing windscreens?
would be easier to get a windscreen place to do it for you... i have to do this now as there is a crack running across the windscreen (stone chip/crack that grew).
When i first rebeuilt my ra40 I never bothered to change that part of my dash - i simply got the crash pad fixed (no more cracks plus i changed the colour) and renovated the guage section.
Seeing as you have to fix stuff anyway, it would be prudent to get a windscreen place to remove it (you'll probably break it), you do any repair work, then you can refit the glass as all you need is that super-sticky black windscreen sealant.
There's a rubber strip on the front edge that holds in in place and it's squashed between the car and the windscreen. DON'T try the screw driver as you will crack your screen, trust me I know, I found out the hard way. Only lucky that it was and old screen and also gave me the chance the fix that dam water leak.
