Very good point. I'll ask my dad or even ask the manufacturer if that's an option as it would save so much time lol! Thanks mate. +rep (if I hadn't already repped you earlier LOL!)

James,
I will bring 2 cars down the blue and green one since the silver one can't go on on the dyno...
Cheers
Can't afford it?... Don't buy/drive it...
James (Viper_Nipplex), We will miss you - Rest In Peace - 11 March 2009
Alright folks, had a meeting with the workshop owner/dyno operator today. We worked out if we do this as an 8 hour day (7 hours worth of dyno operation + 1 hour for lunch) we can squeeze in approx 22 cars. So I'll need to discuss with you all as to an ideal date. It can't be done on Cup weekend or 6-7th Dec. But i'm thinking it's going to be a Sunday and with such rapid interest, how do people think about 26th of October(this month), which is two weeks away approx. From what I can see there aren't any conflicting events according to the Toymods Victoria calander, but please let me know if this doesn't suit you and we'll try to make this something everybody can attend.
The cost i've worked out will be $60 per person and that includes both dyno and scales. Because there is only 22 positions on the dyno, i'll allow for people who just want their car weighed at $10 each. You will get a graphical printout of each corner weight, total weight, front/rear weight distribution, and whatever else I can think of the scales output!
The event will be held at Racetec, which is located at Factory 2, 23 Egan Road, Dandenong. Someone help me out on how to link a map for the joint pleaseI'm so busy atm, still need to pull the rear springs out of my RA65 for Wilbobaggins. Anyways. Opinions, thoughts, ideas, I'm open.
Anyone who is interested in bringing a BBQ along for lunch let me know, i'll try to provide cans of soft drink so people don't go thirsty.
There will also be trophies i've decided. The thought in my mind was stuck with me all last night as I was trying to sleep, so I got up and wrote them all down. The categories are as follows:
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in best power to weight ratio
Heavyweight champion (Watch out, wide load)
Lightweight award (You're car is the lightest feather)
Killerwatt king (most power made on the day)
Grandma award (for lowest power output)
Sticker tare weight difference (What does Vicroads think, compared to the actual weight)
Captain average (the most average power to weight)
Best balance (whoever has the closest to 50:50 weight distribution)
So i'm planning a big day here and can use all the help I can get. It shall be a wicked event and if successful enough, will hope to do it again in the near future.

I asked about the motorbike option, unfortunately Brian (Operator of said dyno) doesn't have the appropriate equipment to allow it to be strapped down. Hopefully for future events we'll have a motorbike class as I know a few folks who would be up for it!Originally Posted by Yian
James its currently October lol
i'm down for it though. That date suits me fine.
re BBQ i'm sure we can throw you a dollar or two for a snag
Strap it down? Just plonk me on the bike ... it aint going anywhere with a fat bastard like me on it.
SHE LIVES!
1984 MA61, 1998 Honda Hornet CB600F
Well I wont deny you are a fat bastard, but this one will have to be cars only for nowStill come down, does the MA61 still run at all?
so seeing I have never been to a dyno day how does it work getting your car warm? do you idle it for a while when your turn is almost up?
You would probably want to have atleast your car partially warmed up prior to a run. Not much good loading up a cold engine, be like fanging the hell out of a cold motor in the morning... obviously not the wisest idea. In the past i've just let mine idle in the car park for a bit. There is plenty of room so you can do a round or two around the block prior to jumping on the dyno which will be fine.
Forgot to mention TIME!!! 9.30am start I think will be good, give everybody with a hangover a chance to sweat it out with something greasy and for everybody else to give their cars a once over with the chamois. Or tweak your ignition timing, pull out your spare wheel, whatever you do on a Sunday morningThe event will go all day until 5.30pm so be prepared for a long one alrighty!
I'll just get everybody who is on the list atm to confirm the date and time is suitable for them. Please PM me your response to reduce thread clutter
Just to confirm, it's going to be an 8 hour day, starting at 9.30am, FWDs on the rollers first and me and whoever wants to give me a hand with a jack to play with the scales and the laptop/printer at the same time. I'm thinking i'll organise a projector and screen so everyone can see the dyno output in real time with great easeBit showy, but hey, make the most of the Sunday I say! So please, confirm your available and set your clocks and calanders. I'll start work on obtaining deposits once I get enough numbers too.
Cheers folks,
James

No worries andrew_mx83 i'll place you in until you can confirm.
Good to hear chaRwie! It's a roller type dyno. Take a look at my JZA80 thread for a pic of it on the dyno. Was supposed to take a photo of the place whilst I was there yesterday, but time wasn't something to spare unfortunately!
