    Default Engine conversion into Ra23

    Hey guys

im looking into do a conversion into my Ra23, i have a rebuilt 18rg which is fun but i want to expand my horizons.

i no i can go to a 1jz ect, but would like to stay within the 4cylinder turbo range, not looking for rediculous amounts of power but something fun and that i tweak with a bit.

    any suggestions?

    cheers

Blue23, for bang for buck. i'd go SR20DET... If you can weld its a cheap process to get in, and theres is unlimited aftermarket support out there!

For under a a couple grand, you could get yourself an ebay turbo and manifold and wind up some boost, get you to a odd 200rwkw pretty quickly

yeh my next project i was thinkin sr20 aswell... would be interesting... plenty of power to be made from those motors.. unfortunately your losing the "toyota spirit"

i think ill just stick with finishing my 3rd attempt of an engine conversion
without changing motors halway through again that is

chief, half the fun is changing motors half way through! lol

Depending what happens with this celica, the next car i build will either be a 1.5jz celica built full race, but something that i can drag and circuit! But will run 10s and prolly wont suit circuit to closely

Then i want an sr20 23, build for circuit and daily driving lol

And then i want 3 cheerleaders

    Cheers,

Cable ties are dodge man, thats drift spec... I'd prolly go something like clag glue, the one we all tasted at some stage in our lives

But all jokes aside, it will not be a direct bolt in, not many engine options will be! But with a custom xmember, some fuel, cooler work and exhaust, wiring etc... Its not going to be cheap, but it will be fun! Much the same as the 3sgte, but as much as i hate to say this, alot cheaper and will prolly yeld alot more rewards

    hmmmmm

will probably have to have a good think about this one, any other way that can be taken, seeing as a Nissan SR20 will fit in how bout an FJ20?

Yep, FJ will fit and also be that little bit unique that everyone is usualy after! But again, im not sure if it will be worth spending the money for an FJ, when the SR20 is decades newer... I would asume the SR is just a better option...

I think FJ's are a bit pricey compared to SR's as well,

    although a head-snapper they be.

nah fj20 is a no go, seriously i read about it in fast fours, the motor is way too tall. its the right length but way too tall.

also because it has a cast head it is very top heavy and produces a moment about x-member because of this. the ra23 cross member isn't as thick as a lot of the nissans and your mounts wont handle the shear stresses. my mounts only just take the 1g i put in mine

a good motor for an ra23 is the 1uz, have a look at this one from a guy in portugal, it sit awesome in the bay but he had to mod the x-member something savage

i think he does all the work himself. would cost at least $20,000 to get it finished otherwise. the guy is an animal and some kind of genius but he mentions he has bi-polar or autism or some shit so its hard to get a lot of help with this conversion
