Default Solution for retaining PS but removing AC on 20V BT?

Have anyone discovered a solution for the retaining power steering pump but removing air conditioning compressor on a 4AGE 20V Blacktop? The tensioner is set up below the AC pulley on the AC bracket so when the AC compressor is removed there seem to be no way to tension the power steering belt.

Find a model which only has power steering and not air-con, and swap the tensioners over. And get an appropriate length belt to suit. I'm trying to do this with my bigport AE82, but p/s-only tensioners are quite hard to get a hold of (a lot of people optioned air-con)

I think air con was standard on these cars so a no-air con tensioner doesn't exist.

I'm assuming both the air-con and power steering are on the exhaust (aka radiator) side of the block like 16V 4AGEs (as opposed to air-con on exhaust side, power-steering on intake side like FEs), then try using a tensioner pulley off a 16V 4AGE which doesn't have air-con.

Or, just hunt around for a random tensioner pulley which has the right number of grooves and bolt that on instead, then just get a belt that's long enough to go around the pulley but short enough to get tensioned.

    Yes you assumed correctly.

I will try this, thanks for the advice.

My 16v (ae92) 4A with air con has a tensioner. Tensioner is not grooved either.

Does yours have power steering as well? Seems if the car has air-con, the tensioner is not grooved as it runs on the outside of the belt, if it's p/s only then the tensioner is grooved and runs in the inside of the belt

One belt does Alternator and Water pump, with the alt being the tensioner.

The other belt runs power steer and air con, both of which are fixed so a flat tensioner is used. The tensioner is mounted underneath and pushes the belt upwards. Is mounted between the AC and the Crank pulley.

Which is exactly the same as the AE82. What I was (and the OP) more interested is the path and tensioner setup of a 4AGE without air-con

Still use the tensioner and just run a shorter belt?

I've had a dig around the EPC to see which bracket might be the one you are after, and I've had two AE82 with ps but not aircon so I know such a setup does exist

    You need
44381-12030 BRACKET, POWER STEERING IDLE PULLEY which when xrefd was used on everything from AE82 to AE101, I just think that no one buys a car in japan without ticking the AC box
44350- 12060 PULLEY ASSY, POWER STEERING IDLE

    some bolts, a shorter belt

I've found the part numbers below on some bbs in Japan, but from the translation (google rocks!) it seems they haven't yet tried it first hand.

I'm not 100% sure that the part numbers are correct, so order parts at your own peril!

Next in the 10990 is a question that will be capped
Later, so I took a look at the report and will be. Grade the AE111 does not have air-conditioning was less AE101 sedan (of course 4AG) had air-conditioning-less version. Belts necessary parts (920mm) and pulleys (Part No. 44350 - 12060) and the bracket (44381-12030). Because parts have not come yet is not confirmed. I think next week so it can be attached to wait until I might want more. Sales in unwelcome Department also said that because of responsibility. Also reported.
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new

Can't. Even with the tensioner at full vertical adjustment, it doesn't put enough tension on a belt running straight from crank to p/s pump. You need the tensioner from a p/s-only model, as it is grooved and thus the belt runs around the outside of the tensioner (so the tensioner gets adjusted down to increase tension), rather than the combined AC/PS tensioner which is flat and on the outside of the belt pushing in (so the tensioner gets adjusted up to increase tension)

Here's a picture of the problem

All JDM AE86's with power steering (even those with aircon) have the tensioner on the power steering bracket... Most people don't bother with power steering when they get an import motor so they're floating around.

The only issue you might have is with alignment, the pump may stick out a couple more mm as the JDM harmonic balancer is slightly different.

I run power steering but not A/C on my 4AGE and swapped the tensioner pulley for a ribbed type and ran the belt around the other side of it. It now tensions in the opposite direction but does the job.
