    Default braking problem (ae92)

    hi guys,
My car is an ae92 corolla and it always had this braking issue ever since i bought it.
When i fully step on the brakes, the car SLOWLY comes to a stop. It doesn't even skid.
i have changed the disc, brake pads and even the booster.

Did anyone have the same issues? can someone please help me out.
its really dangerous driving this car.

    thanks

Bleed the brakes. if you dont know how to do this then take it to a brake shop, probably lots of air in the lines. It would pay to get it done real soon

Is the pedal all spongy? that would be a real hint. Also get a brake shop to check the operation of teh master cylinder. might have a worn seal inside causing fluid to leak past and give crappy breaking.

does the pedal feel like you are getting vacuum assistance?
perhaps the checkvalve in the vac line to the booster (check it is there) has been installed the wrong way round?

is the pedal hard? is the pedal soft? are you getting any wear on the pads/shoes at all??

sounds like either booster is shot (but you changed it) or is not getting vacuum, or check valve is in wrong way... or the master cylinder is siezed, or some of the brake caliper pistons have siezed....

i would check the check valve first.

then i would inspect each brake for wear, and physicall push the cylinders in to make sure thay can move.

then rip everything apart and rebuild them

i have bleeded the system when i changed the booster.

yep the pedal is really soft, i can step on it all the way and the car would slow down slowly.

how do i tell that the check valve is on the wrong way?

i'll go check if the pads are getting any wear

i reckon thats the master cylinder...once again, just pull it off and have a look at the seal. Takes the best part of 10min

Also could be fluid. What kind of condition is the car in? Hi kms/lots of abuse...stuff like that? If it's all in good nick it might be something more sinister...
