    That would be a 22R.

EFI conversion will give you something more, not sure on legalities unless the 22RE was around then too. Just find a wrecking car with a 22RE in it and steal everything.

Engine swap is probably the best way.

You'll probably get 15kW and maybe 10Nm by converting to EFI (assuming mid 90's 22R-E's exist).

A conversion like a 3RZ-FE will be fairly simple (as far as conversions go), easy to get legal, and will net a lot more driveability than doing anything to the 22R.

It could also be a better option to sell what you have and buy something bigger/better/newer.

Isn't this a ute with the usual rear-suspension design most proper utes have ?

Smartest move would be to sell and buy something better. Plus the time you save on not doing the conversion and possible future dramas you could spend working making $$$.

Rep points are for those who feel inadequate in other areas !

and your point is? plenty of ppl modify utes because they like them and not due to the fact that they want to circuit race or drag them.

this guy just want more power from his thats all.

mgfe, i think you need to figure out a budget before ppl can give you more info, and how much more power do you want?

    Cheers

The one thing i miss about my hilux, is the pure shock factor, of wiping the smile off the skyline/commodore/falcon driver who wants to have a go.

I say do it, make it go fast.
