External pumps don't have to be loud. My external Walbros don't make any more noise than the old internal Walbro setup. It all comes down to how and where you mount them.

As Norbie noted the noise has a lot to do with how it's setup, the current setup in my car has two external pumps and you can barely hear them*, the same pumps used how I previously mounted them was quite noticeable in terms of noise.

Mine. Every track day i run right down and do at least one session entirely on the light, sometimes two - never had a single surge or miss in years. Sure, i don't have the fuel demands of some of the other people in this thread, but it's an entirely factory setup - from 1989... still the original pump too!

Garth, you know that's like comparing a pre-schooler sipping from a fruitbox (or poppa depending on which state you are in) to a hooker siphoning a black man.
