Mate do it properly and get some blank valve the same diameter as what you have now, but you will be able to get the stems cut to the right length so you only need to have shims under the bucket.

who does custom valves apart from Ferrea?
try precision shims (bayswater or croydon i think) and just have one thick one over bucket?
they have shims in pretty much all sizes in stock and are cheaper than toyota genuine. i managed to get super thin ones (2mm) when the valves started pulling into the head on my gas 3rz.
im planning to grind the base circle and use larger (they go upto 4 or 5 mm i think) shims when i get around to doing something about my cams in the 7m....
thick shims are far more likely to flick out at higher RPM
not really a good idea

i will probably pean them into the buckets...only downer will be having to replace the buckets when the head gets noisy/rebuilt.
can you describe what "pean them" means?
as in use a punch to secure the shims into the buckets. it appears i should have spelt it PEEN
oh now that makes sense, I would still be very wary of having a thick shim of that size though. Because its such a large shim it would weigh quite a bit
would the weight be an issue? are buckets reciprocating mass? you would expect the cams to lose a bit of weight as well, might offset the problem a little.
no biggie if they pop out anyway....ull lose compression on a cylinder until u pull the rocker covers off and reset.....this has happend to my 7m once before (with standard shims) and there was no permanent damage.
