Peter, the 1zz-fe (and 1nz-fe) coils are great under boost.
I had them on my 3s-gte with 208rwkw. They will happily handle 300kw.
The daewoo Lanos coil packs usually have built in ignitors, but not all. Make sure its got the alloy plate on the back, thats the heat sink for the ignitors.
They have pins for the spark plug leads, you can squash down normal leads to fit or get custom leads or use Daewoo leads.
Older coild have DAE on them, newer ones have GM. I have had a couple fail, but I have installed 30? and they are cheap and easy to get.
Some pics of some of my installs:-
Yep that one is 25psi twin charged 4AGZE!

I have a gen 2 3S-GTE with 1ZZ COPs. I used the kit offered by 'RacerX' in the US (which includes an adapter plate that goes on top of the cam cover).
I'm making 353rwkw at 31psi of boost on E85, and my 1ZZ coils have have never let me down.

418rwkw @ 32psi of boost on E85.
289rwkw @ 20psi of boost on 98 RON.
what dwell time you running on them rob? I've killed two 1ZZ coils now at 3ms dwell, on wasted spark, my mate also killed two, now dialled back to 2.5ms and seem to be ok for the moment, but he hasn't really put many kms on it yet.

yeah i'll be going full sequential on the next setup as i suspect it may not be helping things as well..
i think the aftermarket chinese sheit 1zz type coils are the ones that play up
ive seen a 1j with these coils on the dyno and it stuffed up 2 or 3 coils and when we pulled them out they looked cheapish
so we got some 2nd hand original ones from a camry I think and was able to dyno it more
these days we just fit ls1 ls2 coils to everything
28 and rob k thanks for that info it will surely help me when i get around to putting the car together
Cheers, Peter

small thread hi jack.
tried starting my car with a base map, set the timing etc and no luck. have spark and fuel pressure. so I have one question.
when running COP is it possible to set the timing 360' out?
ie its sparking on exhaust stroke not power/compression stroke?
I believe it is and all I have to do is pull the dizzy and turn it 180. (results as 360 at the crank)
any way to confirm im out 360" apart from removing the valve cover?
oh and the timing is set to 10" with locked timing on the ecu and it ligns up with 10" on the crank MARK

you could have the coils wired up in the wrong way so that they are not firing in the correct order. you can have the timing out if you put the dizzy in on the wrong TDC. you want TDC for compression stroke on cylinder 1

Put timing mark on crank pulley at 80 degrees ATDC
I think that's right
Then put timing light on cyl 3
Timing mark should match up to the 80 ATDC
If u get stuck and around Gold Coast or brissy area and need to pay someone to fix it or get it going let me know
I do this shit for a living
Honda cbr motorbike coils are good to but u need a CDI to drive them for best results
Fixed tooth offset was the issue! I'm an idiot for forgetting to adjust it. Runs now
