    Default Dash repair/covering

    Howdy,

I have TA22, daily driver (well unregistered currently) and im looking for something to cover/stick over the cracked dash. Currently it just generates alot of dust and flaky stuff. I am not looking to remove and repair the dash, just for something to stick/paint over it to stop the dust.

    Cheers

dash matt or contact adhesive with speaker box carpet- easy to get right and will look ok
    - or - vinyl - harder to get right but will look better than carpet if done properly.

have a dash matt and speaker box carpet still lets some of the shit through. I'll look into vinyl and put a dash mat over the vinyl. Where can you pick up vinyl from?

Fibreglass weave and resin. Then paint it black. Cheap.

Hmm ... I can do that at my workshop but you not wanting to remove & repair it yah? ... Theres a shop in Vic park that do the car trimming and stuff. I'm sure you can get some vinyl from the if you want to do it yourself ... but again you always can bog over the crack, sand it back, put some primer filler, rub back with 600 sand paper (better wet) and paint it ... cheap and you can even do that with spray can

in that case ... you can do it cheap style by using super glue to stick the bits and pieces together then bog over areas where the cracks are like along the lines and stuff using small bog knife (with minimum amount of bog) ... then you will have small amount to rub back (use 120 sand paper to rub bog out and 400 to smoothen) ... either primer the whole lot (with primer filler) or spot primer and rub back with 600 sand paper before you paint ... make sure you scuff the rest of the dash with 1500 sand paper before you paint the whole lot.

Or you can plastic weld the cracks instead of super glue. I don't really know how to plastic weld properly so I can't help with that. but by joing the cracks together before bogging the dash should ensure that the bog will not crack in later stage.

gaffer tape in strips from leading edge of dash to windscreen. looks crap, but should hold together well.
