my ecu doesnt have data logs. would my autometer air/fuel ratio meter be good enough to use as an example??? it has a constant reading of really rich at idle, and at idle it sounds like its got huge cams.
or just dont try to tune in areas that can lead to easy engine damage.. like high load or boost or rpm....Originally Posted by mullett
then again, tuning isn't that hard if you know what you are doing
it's not that long ago that there was no such thing as an AFR meter![]()

I guess so...tuning is a black art to me, something I'm afraid ofMe, I'd fiddle till it ran and then drive it gently as all hell to a dyno and throw money at someone until they tuned it for me
RM.
well yesterday i sat in my driveway for an hour and put in my new map, 30% less fuel then a 18rgeu. but because it sat so long idleing my plugs wont let it hit boost any more
il just rego it and take it to the dyno,

ok i just got my 2tg dip stick out and it is miles too short. the dip stick that is in the engine has a number on it though, it says 15301- 88280 does that mean anything??

oh i think i worked out wats going wrong with my engine too, only 6 of the spark plugs are going fully black, the 1st cyl plugs arent getting fully killed just a slightly rich burn. i think one of my injectors isnt working properly
Yep, the number 15301-88280 is the Toyota part number for the 3T GTE dip stick.
cheers,
Simon
ok so i have too much oil in my engine, would this make my oil pressure a lil bit higher?? my oil level is 1-1.5 mayb close to 2 litres over the full mark. but that means that the engine only needs about 3 litres, does this sound right?
thank you
No it doesn't sound right. The total oil capacity for a 3T GTE is around 4.5 litres.
Your dipstick has the right number, BUT something is wrong if its only taking 3 litres.....
Has something been done to the sump? OR check that the dip sitck holder tube hasn't been swapped or cut shorter for some reason.....This might be your problem.
This holder tube just presses into the block. Measure the distance from the top of the holder tube to the block and we cna check its the right length....
Cheers,
Simon
Dude,
Whats the engine number on your block? I assume its a 3T and not 2T bottom end?
Cheers,
Simon
hmmm this is interesting....
good work trying to help him though simon.
it is indeed a 3t bottom end (how many digits should the engine number be?? im not sure if i can see it all or not). i have the dip stick tube sitting beside me, it is exactly 15cm + 15mm inside the block. the sump looks normal to me.
Hmmm, 150mm sounds right. I give up dude. Without seeing it I don't know what the problem is.....
Cheers,
Simon
ok, thanks for al thew help neways
