    Default IDing flywheel

A bit of a weird one but i have a new ORC twinplate clutch kit that i have no idea what it's off other than it will be Jap. No part No.s and ORC are worse than useless in replying.

Any thoughts on how to ID?

Flywheel PCD and dia are about the only meaningful measurements i can take but how to use this info?

Trying ORC was obviously the most reliable option.

Perusing ebay or google using the specs you can measure might be a hit and miss option, could work if someone was diligent enough to post the specs when they posted an ad or specs of their car.

    Failing that try a psychic

    1. does it have the "light" pressure plate or not?
    2. is it metal or carbon plate?

    it's either gonna be a 559, 609 or 709 series...ie there are only 3 different clutch covers..
at least that narrows it down a bit... 609 and 709 have "larger friction area", so at least you can compare to a known ORC clutch and tell which series it is (esp if someone has a 609 you can look at)
if it's a carbon 559, then there are less models..

as for which car, the cars they are made for a relatively common.. so the measurements are prolly around somewhere

edit: pic of flywheel would be good, as would number of holes, PCD and outer diameter.. perhaps looking on yahoo auctions will help?

Like i said no response from ORC. It's new but it's their old series metal. Alloy cover plate, solid center 'ceramic' plates (missing and need to source).

Yes likely cars are common but still need to know which of 10 possibles it's gonna be

It's an 8 bolt flywheel and my guess will be for one of the 2 litre turbos...where to find list of crank PCDs though...no joy after many hours of web searching

    1J 559 http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b88581068

RB26 (triple, but you can see flywheel) http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e79547746

the old ones with les bolts holding the cover on?
post up some pics and measure the PCD

with the ring gear/PCD measurements, maybe you can ring up someone like alloy race components and ask if they have anything in their range with those measurements.. and what it is off.. and a quote

Stuck some verniers on it and PCD 8x69mm...rules out 4A and 3SGTe.

Looks like most Nissan shit is only 6 bolt

Likely option then would be 1J? or Mitsu.

Anyone got a 1/2J flywheel they can measure for me? I could have a cheap twin plate for you

My quick JZ measure is a PCD of ~74mm... (center -> center)

Otherwise I'd be calling dibs... lol

    Isnt RB26 8bolt?

7M it could be too, since 8x69 sounds about right for M series, they are a touch smaller PCD than the JZ.
