    Default AE92 n00b

    Hey gang,

    Playing with an AE92 seca.

Its a 16v twin cam but carby model. (No 4age)

Anyone done any induction mods to ones of these?

Love to see any info about these engines.

    Cheers James

There have been many mods to many AE92s with all sorts of engines. I'll see if I can save you some time here as many will tell you not to bother. What I write here will not apply to every engine ever made.

    - Any changes to the intake of a stock naturally aspirated A series engine (4A-F, 4AGE, 7A-FE whatever you can think of) will yield only minor changes to performance. Much larger leaps on power/torque output can be found by other means.
    - What you ultimately attain with intake changes are optimising the airflow for a particular rev range.
    - Stock they are almost all tuned to a particular rev range suited to the purpose the car was marketed for.
    - Get yourself a good high quality air filter, and perhaps just plumb some neat pipe to the intake from the cooler airstream at the front of the car.
    - If you feel like tinkering, few have done this but get a different carby onto there. See if you can source yourself a Weber 32/36 or the like and tune that for the car, that will give you a smidge more power if it's tuned nicely.
    - Anything beyond that will cost more to do. Play around a bit with ignition. If you want something more challenging for a laugh source some motorbike carbs and try to fit those.

You'll get a very similar answer from most people, at least from the ones who aren't telling you to confine the poor old 4A-F to the abyss.

Try this site man low budget ideas that work...http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/sinttech/4A-FE_Power!.html
However that site is for 4afe's but it shouldn't be to different apart from the induction bit.

I have a 4afe and yeah not the greatest but if you want to work with what you got then do a bit of tinkering i guess.....am pretty keen to get my hands on a 20v silvertop where the real sting lies
