    Default URGENT - Wiring Issues....

Ok, now i have your attention, thgis is going to sound really noobish, but basically...

I wired a CD player in to my brother's 2001 Hilux 4x2 the other night and since have lost the back light for the whole dash, as well as hazard lights, tail lights (except brake) and park lights up front... Any ideas why? The fuse box has a 'Tail' 10A fuse, which was blown, and when replaced and switch headlights on it blows instantly. Really need to sort this out asap, any help much appreciated. cheers!

(I cant find a wiring diagram anywhere for this, as i'd say it has something to do with the signal wire for the original radio to have back lights come on now not being connected...)

you hooked the "light power" for the CD to the wrong thing?

unplug the CD player, and meter where voltage is (permanent power), then turn on IGN and do same again...

then turn IGN off and turn lights on the park and check voltage, then turn lights to on and check again.

then check those voltages are in the right place on the radios plug

it sounds like you have somehow wired the "light" power for the CD to earth..

I've done this before and it turned out that I had hooked the earth for the cd player to a trigger wire or something for the tail lights (can't remember exactly i took it to an auto sparky).

Aparently the wire appears as an earth until the lights are turned on.

Long story short if you don't have the earth just conected straight to the body of the car do that, otherwise i'm not sure.
