Default Cross threaded Front control arm bracket

Hi peoples I was installing my front drivers side control arm on AE82 Twin cam hatch and there is a big U shackle holding the caster bush to the underside of the chassis. I had previously installed this shackle back in place and did it up to factory torque spec when I was installing brake calipers later on I realised I had used the brake caliper bolts on this by accident and I removed them and swapped the bolts however upon reinstallation I cross threaded the start of the thread into the chassis after much playing around I havent been able to get the original thread to take up. What is my best course of action now? the bolt isnt damaged its a 10mm thread fine pitch bolt.

    Any help would be great.

-You drill the thread with the approate sized drill bit
-Tap the hole with the tap that comes with the helicoil kit
-Screw the helicoil in with the tool provided
-And break the end of the helicoil (the bit that you turn)

should come in a kit similar to this

get them from blackwoods, or coventry fasteners.

its a drill and tap set that enlargens the whole to a special size thread, and then you use a special tool to screw in a coil of metal that turns the whole into whatever size/pitch you want.

Or, is it possible to drill it out and put a nut on a longer bolt that goes all the way through?

    How badly is it threaded?

One or two threads up the top?
Using a tap should work because of its taper at the start of the tap.
Try everything before you go drilling it out.
