    Default ta22 track suspension ?

    hi
i own a 74 ta22 tha ive been building up with a 3sgte, w58 and early hilux 5 stud diff. my plans are to use the car for mainly track days and hill climbs but i would still like the car to be registerd although road going comfort is nowere near a priority.
ive done alot of searching on brake upgrades such as the pug/corona/hilux and the hoppers kit ad also looked into ae86 coilovers and different struts and springs.

my question is will ae86 coilovers fit in the front of my ta22 and if they will are they worth it or should i go with conventional struts and springs ?
if i go with struts and springs can anyone recomend struts and springs suitable for the job and myabe even spring rates people have tryed.

    thanks for the help
    Marty

    if it were me

    corona pug hilux front brakes
    rt132 struts
    ae86 power steering arms
    T3 adjustable lower arms
    camber adjustable tops
thread the radius rods for more castor if desired
shorten the front insert and add a koni yellow, maybe mr2 sw20 rear
weld on a koni coilover sleeve for height adjustment
    spring rate 275-370lb/in
    whiteline front stabiliser kit

    rear
custom wound linear rate springs to ride height you want
    spring rate 170-240lb
crossreference a shorter koni yellow to fit
    whiteline stabiliser kit
    adjustable panhard rod

    fit some decent tyres too

also make sure your bushings are in good order, just replace them then you are sure
replace the lower ball joints in the front if you are retaining standard arms

replace the rear arm bushes but be careful, i've heard that too firm in the rear bushes can cause binding and erratic behaviour, you'll have to explore this with someone else, i am running leaf rear :/

when it's together get a bump steer guage like the longacre one and check your bump steer, add roll center adjusting blocks if necessary to correct any problem

with the corona struts you might need a strut bend to get the camber back in if you don't decide to make the lower arms adjustable - the strut tops are unlikely to make enough of a difference to compensate for the different kpi etc. of the rt132 strut

sounds pritty good one thing i should of mentiond though is i want it to be 5x114.3 stud patern front and back but i can have custom hubs made at work if need be and the brakes need to idealy fit under 16inch volk 3piece rims

hilux brakes will not have clearance problems in terms of diameter
not sure about what kind of clearance your volk wheels will give you over the caliper faces though
as for 5x114.3 you could use ms65 hubs instead of rt132 hubs and redrill your discs to suit

yeah ide really prefer to have something along the lines of a hoppers kit on better struts such as ae86 coilovers or at least onto brand new gear as i want everything to be new when the car is done and i would like to be able to buy disks when i need them as aposed to haveing to redrill and machine them everytime.

I very much agree with all of SeptemberSquall's comments but theres also the mx62 caliper/ ma61 rotor and xt130 strut option.

or the rx7 4 piston calipers...

anything ae86 will be fine for your car, you may need to change to a ae86/xt130 steering arm though.
