Hi,
Does it does this in all gears, or just in D?
If you put it in neutral does it do it?

Hello,
I have a 1g-gte with an A340E Transmission.
Recently I have noticed that when I hit my gas pedal down 3/4 of the way, let it accelerate for a while then take my foot off the gas I feel the car jerking while slowing down, it feels like the engine is stalling.
First I thought it may be something to do with my transmission, but the only thing I have done is fix the solenoid problem, a solenoid was not getting good contact, and also re-filled with Dexron 2, the correct fluid for my transmission.
I also thought the engine may be fuel cutting, but I have not raised the boost, I am running standard boost.
The car does not jerk very violently, but it can be felt jerking and stalling.
What could be the problem?
Thanks,
Z2TT.

If you mean does it do it in all modes (P, N, D, L, 2) I have not tried.
I'll try revving to about 4500 RPM in the "N" position and see if it stalls. I think it would only do this if the car is under load i.e in Drive, but I will try in Neutral and let you know.
air leaks in intake?
jerking on decel can be caused by mixtures being too lean.
fulyl lean and the engine cuts.. rich and it will be doughy,
just rich enough = smooth and no hesitation when back on throttle
just a bit lean = bucking and jerking...,

I'd be checking the drive shaft. Worn or faulty joints or rubber dampener.
It does not do it in N, revved the engine in neutral and doesn't hesitate, however when im driving it does it.Originally Posted by river
What about if you drive it up to speed, then slip it into Neutral as you start decelerating?
I had this problem in my 4age 2 weeks ago. The problem was that one of the metal connections to the map sensor hose had broken off and it wasn't getting a proper reading. Bypassed the broken piece of piping and it's all sweet now![]()
