Default vibration only at 5000rpm + other issues

i've just done the 100,000k service on my car (timing belt, thermostat, fluids, plugs etc) its a 92 1JZ auto soarer

my problem is, when i drive it i get a distinct vibration which feels like its coming from the transmission at 4900 - 5000rpm, after that the car doesn't vibrate anymore? the whole time as well it doesn't feel like its losing power either

only at that rev range does it happen and it never happened before i swapped everything over.

any idea's of where i should start looking? is there anyway to test the engine mounts, or do i have to pull them out and physically inspect them? or is it just going to be pull everything off and double check tightening everything?

also after double checking my timing, when the cam's are at TDC the crank pulley is actually at about 10 degree's below TDC.

could this also be an issue?

As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are

there are maybe 36 teeth on cam pulley/gear/things, = 10 deg each, but that is 20deg at crank...
so it is half a tooth out? hmm..

does it happen in all gears? at same rpm?
you can visually inspect mounts to start.. at least in enguine they are loaded and maybe you can see if they are split..

Might be worth checking the condition of the crank pulley, that might give the impression that it's transmission related when it's actually the pulley.

If it happens in neutral. Whilst stationary, you can rule the whole drive line out. It's in the motor.

Well maybe, but you say it started after the service. Was it disturbed?
Does it happen without fail everytime you pass 5000rpm?

thats the bizarre thing. after 5000rpm it goes back to reving fine with no vibration its just between that little bit of revs that it does it. i'll have to pull the Gbox mount out sometime next week to see what the deal is.

so much for trying to make the engine better with a service

common misconception with most ppl.. everyone thinks if you get your car serviced then all; your problems will go away.. sorry to say it doesnt work that way.. it's called preventative maintenance

Does it happen sporadically or every time when the car is at the rev range? Any noises with the vibration?

happens every time. cant notice any noises. but the vibration does get harder through the 5500 rev range and then just drops off all of the sudden at 6000

so i took most things back off today and replaced the timing back to where it should be.

started the car. ran it for a bit to let it warm up. rev'd it up slowly to 5000 the noise kicked in 6000rpm it went but the car died when it hit 6000. and now refuse's to start again.

there's normally a "wrrrrrrrr" noise when you turn the key to one, which i assume is the fuel pump and that noise is no longer there. i changed the fuel filter the other day. maybe installed wrong and its starved for fuel?

any idea's where to start again from here fuel air spark and compression?

You've done the main EFI fuse in.

    Change it.

Check all of your cables in the engine bay that you haven't allowed them to melt to the block, and they've shorted out. Hence shot out the fuse.
