You wont find a steel wheel or high flow CT12A turbo that has a turbine wheel that looks identical to a stock ceramic CT12A turbine wheel.

There are a million pics of standard CT12A turbos floating around, use one as a comparison.

    meh ill give you examples.

here is a dead standard CT12A turbine wheel.

and here is a CT12A turbo with a CT9 turbine wheel conversion.

Get a magnet and put that on the wheel.

the magnet trick won't always work on the steel wheels that are used for turbines as they have a different metalurgy than normal steel,
and it definately won't work trying to put a magnet on a picture (not to mention the fact that it may f#*k the monitor if your checking an email ) as asked in the first post.

do ppl chuck the ct9 wheel inside the 12a? I thought it was the other way round for more top end out of a ct9..

does anyone know about using other ct series turbo internals/housings on a ct9?

    cheers

Hmm, well it is kind of almost going backwards as the CT12A are a ceramic type.

tom, steel turbined supra internals go in after you bore out the starlet rear housing but you need to have the wheel to housing gap about 1.5mm to stop it overboosting even after you bore out the wastegate hole. or just put an external gate on one of my bolt-on mani's.

    cheers

I thought the Nut holding the Exhaust wheel would be a giveaway!

If it dont look like the stock one, i guess it would have to be rebuilt, and possibly steel wheeled?

there is no nut holding the exhaust wheel.

it is part of the wheel and shaft arrangement ie 1 piece, the only time they come off is when your exhaust wheel say's hello to your cat.
