Fitting a 7M will take a fair amount of time (especially since this is your first conversion and you'll be learning lots and backtracking a bit) and will involve plenty of mods to other things since it's a very different engine to what was originally in there. But the result could be pretty good.

Going a 4Y will be MUCH easier (mounts and gearbox and most likely even the water piping will bolt up) though still have a few tricky bits. Though a 4Y is no powerhouse, it feels a step up from a 3Y, and smoother.

4y's dont produce much more power and if your towing or up the beach it just dies if you try to get into a taller gear than 2nd.Also if you go for 33's the 4y die's on hills and it ends up useing more fuel than the 7m because its working so hard.I tried this option...I cant speak highly enough of the 7mge's torque when used in the 4wd's.I used 12litres per 100km with a 7mgte with 31' tyres.

4y's are no better than the 3y. i have done the 3y to 5mge conversion ages ago if you would like any info. i have a small write up that will let you know what you need. overall the conversion only cost me 1k and that was with an engine for $350 so your already 250 in front

I have a friend that used the sc14 supercharger on his 4y and it made a bit of difference but was never dyno'd nor was the power output impressive.
At the end of the day it's more cost effective to replace the motor with a more powerful unit unless your power gain goals are quite small.
