compression test .. will tell you if you've dropped a cylinder..
if the dizzy has sparks on all cylinders then i doubt the dizzy is farked, but i've seen some strange things in my time so don't quote me on that
I have had this issue with the AE82 for couple months and i have just decided to find out whats up with it
the problem I am having is that it sounds like its dropped a cyl.. it was fine driving one minute then next minute it ran like a dog
now I have purchased a new rotor button and dizzy cap.. i have put new leads on it, changed the ign coil to another 82 coil and im still not having any luck with it..
I checked the plugs and number 1,2 & 4 are dry and kinda sooty (expected) but number 3 is wet, I wipe it off and it looks like oil.
I started the car up with number 3 disconected and it ran exactly the same. reconected number 3 and disconected 1, then 2 then 4 and it still ran the same...
I checked spark on all 4 cyl and I am getting spark on all cyl!
so put all plugs back in, raced the motor and stoped it instantly and pulled number 3 back out and it was still wet, all others were dry.
wot.. the fark... is going on! could the dizzy be farked? or could it be something more severe like a screwed ring.

Research has shown child in front seat causes accidents, accident in back seat causes child
il do a compression test tonight.. any idea on what pressure I should have for a 320 thou car?
hey there mate....
have u put the wet spark plug into another cyl??? could be a faulty plug
comp should be about 130-150psi
try them out...
also if u are going to get new plugs for it... ask for early v6 prado plugs.. i found they ran great in my old 4a... and alot of other motors ive used them for
hope this helps

how does 48psi and dropping sound on number 3 ROFL
put a tea spoon of oil down the cylinder and compression test again. If you read significanly higher its going to be the rings, otherwise could be stuck valve etc.
