    Default Small Pod Filter

    Hello,

I am going to relocate my pod filter away from the engine bay so it doesnt suck hot air in, but there wont be enough room for my pod filter, it will be a tight fit.

I need recommendations for a small pod filter.

    Thanks.

Problem is if I use a Panel I will have to make a box for it, that will be hard to fit behind the front bar. I need something along the lines of a real small pod.

hey man.... CAI !!!!! me n me bro ripped the std POS airbox out and got an air filter adapter from SuperSh#t Auto and stuck it on the AFM....from there we made a custom cold air intake that went from under the car, up the right hand side, and through the scoop hole on the airbox....air filter was sticking out the bottom of the car!!! it looked awesome, till it fell of and we ran over it!!! used PVC pipe!!! was awesome...now we just got the air filter sticking off the AFM!!

Have a look here for what size you are after (get a few options though) and see what a performance shop can import - or what might be available locally.

Just know the limits that you need to work in and give them a few options, nothing worse than saying that you want xxx if they cant get it in the country, or better still yyy is available at only half the price but slightly different for whatever reason.

LeeRoy, no it isnt boxed up, we just have it sucking cold air from the airdam, pipe that leads to the ail filter, so it aint decreasing performance

Because you need to spread reputation before being able to give it to the same person again. Its in the FAQ (and 15 different people i believe).

As for the filter, the only way to know for sure is to measure the pressure drop in the system with and without the filter. Autospeed has some good articles on this.

woggin - you will be surprised at how hot the engine bay will get. Use a thermo couple and put it near your intake. Compare it to ambient and see how much power you are loosing (remember you dont 'gain' power by having a 'cold air intake' - you minimise the power lost by increased intake temperatures)

The engine will suck equally from all directions so just having a cold air pipe in front wont be sufficient. Do some tests and prove it.

z2tt - The inside diameter of that filter is only 2inches, if that is smaller than your intake pipe it will cause a restriction. There is always something that can be moved to install the ideal filter, but it will always be a trade off.

if you still have an AFM on the engine, that will cause more of a restriction than the pod will.
