I'd be more concerned with your "Submit Thread" or left mouse button.
Do what the mech said, if it fails it seems you've got another option there.
Hi,
I have just purchased or traded a car for a AE101 Corolla.
After idling for a short period of time, on take off it blows greyish whitesh smoke. One mechanic has said to add diesel to the oil flush it then change it with 10-30W oil. Another mechanic has told me straight out its stuffed.
Its the 1.6 litre 4A engine. I found an engine 6months parts & labour warranty. $500 and fitment for $200. Is this the better option?
Has any one had this problem??
Any opinions or help would be great.
If it blows smoke on take off then its more than likely your valve stem seals. Is it using much oil?
Valve stem seals are a pretty easy job on a 4a and can even be done with the head on. Have a google cause theres a great thread on how to do them if you were to attempt them yourself.
