Best thing to do, ask around as to who is a good engineer (not just somebody who will pass anything, but somebody who will help you make it safe), discuss your plans with them (they may charge a small fee for this) and go from there. Once it is engineered, Shannons would be one of the better insurance mobs to go through. If it isn't engineered, you won't be able to get insurance at all, so not a good idea.

Automotive engineer, and make sure they are qualified to authorise your intended mods (some auto engineers aren't qualified for steering geometry changes etc... which is why you should discuss all your plans with them up front). Transport SA should be able to give you a list of auto engineers in your local area, but it is best to go by word of mouth reputation.

Yep, you can usually get a list of automotive engineering signitories for your state from your RTA or Vic roads or whatever equivalent you have there.
My car is engineered and comprehensively insured with Shannons.
KE25 4AGTE etc etc.

That's where you talk to the engineer, even though there is a NCOP they all still have varying degrees on what they accept as adequate.

Stan, I take your point we are all here to help one another, as evidenced by Owen's helpfull advice. That being said most of what has been written, is a rewrite of the information which has been covered in numerous threads.
If I had total recall I could have directed the guy to the threads. Oh gee I could have searched for him!
Sure ask questions, but one also has a resposibility to do some research. I am sure some people need be spoon fed, but with so much information already here on the forums a simple piece of advice to search should not deserve the castigation dished out.
As far as bieng a tight arse forum, man that is just so wrong. Better than someone else, forget it.

Occasionally people do need a bit more of a leg up (as in this case), and there are enough of us who enjoy sharing our passion to be willing to help these people who come up with the same noob questions. I guess all that I would ask in return is that once I have given somebody a hand up, they try and climb a bit of the way themselves before asking for more help.
