    Default Some running problems

Hey guys i noticed a problem with the way my car was running today, it was fine in the morning but soon as i left work it felt shit.

If im cruising at say 40km/h in 2nd or 3rd it's shudder back and forth. When accelerating from a standing position, it barely moves until after 2000rpm and then feels like it has a massive flatspot and is the same if you downshift and try to accelerate.

At times, there are no symptoms and im not too sure what could be causing this.

The things i've replaced (just because i felt it was time) are the leads (top gun), no air in the cooling system, fuel filter is roughly 10000km old and i always run premium. Also, i think the g'box side engine mount has carked it so i'll replace that on saturday.

The things that i have in mind that could POSSIBLY cause the problems are a blocked fuel filter, old fuel pump (have new one to replace with), maybe spark plugs or even a bad batch of fuel (mobil 8000). Can anyone give me some insight into what else could cause it?

    Much appreciated.

    Check the codes.

Adjust the tps back to factory limits. Then test..

    Cool, will do. Thanks guys.

I noticed this morning that there was a smell of fuel in the engine bay so im thinking it's ignition related and have bought some new plugs but we'll see if it works ops:

The car was average this morning but tonight it was fine 90% of the time

damn man, that sucks. I know why this is happening, cos i SHOULD have brought that engine not you :-P na kiddin. It sounds like it could be a map sensor problem, have you got a spare to try? I think i got one lying around you can have if u wana try. It could also be the fuel pump on its way out, ive also encountered this too! Very similar to a coilpack problem i had with the gze. Ive got a spare tank with pump if ur interested for free as im scrapping the shell this weekend. Contact me on 0431 561 842 if you want anything, cheers, Jarrad

Bump this up again guys, i think it MAY be a vacuum leak or something along those lines.

Basically i've replaced fuel pump, filter, leads, plugs, and installed twinky tank. What happens is when the car is cold and you are just taking off with the accelerator pressed very lightly, the car sounds like it's running on 3cylinders and the exhaust pops on take off...although it doesn't happen all the time. The way to get around it is either ride the clutch at higher revs or let it splutter until in builds up the revs.

When it has warmed up it's usually alot better although when it gets into the warmer stages (stuck in traffic) the revs sometimes drop off and it stalls. I've cleaned the TB out a few weeks ago so that rules it out.

Any ideas on what would cause this? Should i bother checking compression? Faulty leads?

    Any help is appreciated

    Have you reset/recalibrated the TPS?

Sounds really wierd! Timing still ok?
