Hi Rod, thanks for posting up the new pics of your setup. Yours is pretty much what I tried to copy.

I had even wanted to do the same thing with the 90 deg bend TIG'd to the cooler, but since the 18R is coming out and the 1G is going in all over one weekend, (and must be running for work on the monday) time is of the essence. I will use silicon bends at least for now.

It does look easier to have the angle support pointing forward (and you obviously aren't having any issues), I just thought that the additional strength of having the angle actually sitting on the chassis rails was worth the extra effort of making those two smaller brackets.

Anyways, there are many ways to skin a dog (i like cats), so the more infor, the merrier!

    Timbo,

I actually drove mine off boost with two TA22 demister hose taped together in a loop in the engine bay and just the dump pipe until I could get the pipework done

I wasn't on as big a time limitation with mine tho obviously and silicon straight pipe is much cheaper than buying silicon bends. My intercooler had 3" inlets and outlets which I didn;t like so rather than use a pair of 3" - 2.5" reducers I had them cut off and the 2.5" pipework done from the intercooler. You could always get that part done the before your transplant weekend ? Are you doing the pipework yourself ?

If your doing it yourself check out otomoto's range of Alloy and silicon bends. Its only light so postage shouldn't be too bad and the bends have allot of straight at each end of them and are very well priced.

Looking forward to seeing it done mate.

    Kedderz,

Fitting a suitable Plumbback BOV with limited pipework is a pita as it means you have to remove it to change your spark plugs all the time. The other option is long pipework like on a GTR skyline. I went for the cheaper and more annoying but functional option. The black pipe is actually radiator hose.

I will be adding a plumbed in BOV, but not for a few weeks. If i find an elegent solution, i'tll do a write-up.

Have a look at Rod's solution for inspiration in the meantime, but it does involve some welding which would be beyond most DIYers.

    Cheers,

Edit: Rod, you took the words right out of my mouth, and beat me to it

    Kedderz,

This is the first version of the BOV install. I had linden relocate it to the back off the intake bend to clear the strut brace as can be kinda seen in that previous pic.

I much prefer it the way it is now

the above pictures was what I was basing my install upon, i went through page after page trying to find where you had shown mockup pictures.

the way you have it now seems definately a better solution for as you say the strut brace would foul otheriwse.

It's worth noting that those JustJap intercoolers are available with 2.5" outlets - which is what i bought for my RA28.

You can also buy the 90* silicon bends in 2.5" and as 2.5"-2" reducers... which arent too pricey if you look around.

    Thanks Karl,

I just ended up with the 3" version because I got it cheap on ebay. Turns out they sent me two coolers accidently, but my morals got the better of me so I sent the second one back.

Rod, it looks like you mounted the BOV as close as possible to the throttle body, presumably to releive the pressure wave where it begins.

Is there a problem with mounting it closer to the turbo? That way you can mount it nice and low on the inlet plumbing and feed it in just behind the AFM.

hi just a quick question, im in the process of finishing a 1ggte conversion into a ra23 and your write up on the intercooler fitting is exactly what i was after for an easy clean fit.. but i havent been able to find a 450 x 300 x 50 intercooler. there is a 450 x 300 x 76 on just jap site. anyways just wanted to check if this would still allow me to fit the front grill etc still? Cheers... Dan
