There are a number of good sites including Norbie's for info on older Toyota axle and diff codes, but all of the ones i have seen stop at the '90s models, and it seems with good reason - the single letter code for identifying differential families (eg, A, G, F, etc) disappears, and there doesnt seem to be any way of identifying the diff in a 1990+ vehicle from the build plate itself.
In fact, the same code appears on completely different models of cars with completely different diffs and/or ratios...
This is the table i started from the info i had and from what has been posted in this thread http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=37575 (and numerous threads before it)
So the question is does anyone know if a reliable source of info about post 1990 Toyota diff codes already exists to save me the trouble of continuing this table?
If not, feel free to post any info/codes etc so i can add them to the list. Its only just started and there are a lot of models to cover (Celsior, Altezza, JZX, etc)
Im also wondering whether to include separate entries for the LSD versions of diffs.... also, whether to keep it to 200mm 8" diffs for now, or include the smaller 7.5" ones as well
Any thoughts?
would the identifying data be hidden in the extended model number or VIN number?
